Baltimore’s six public markets operate year-round and offer many healthy food choices. Public markets feature fresh produce, bakery shops, prepared foods, salads, sandwiches, meats, seafood and specialty boutiques. Each market has a unique personality and mix of vendors.
The Baltimore Food Policy Initiative (BFPI) is working with the city’s public markets to offer fresher, healthier foods through its Get Fresh Get Fit Public Markets project. Get Fresh Get Fit Public Markets currently are located in the Lexington Market, Northeast Market, Broadway Market and Hollins Market. Plans to expand the project to all six markets in the next few years are underway. Nutrition and fitness activities will be offered in addition to great food.
